Often when i read a thread, i want to find what i posted. But maybe instead of going through the list of all posts, why not have a button on each thread that shows you where and when you posted?

You could go to "Search This Thread" Advanced Search and search for your own name.

Ah, but what if it was a post from a while ago that you want to quote or read. Some threads don't have tags

I can understand it being difficult to locate in a large thread, a game, for example, but wouldn't it be just as difficult to navigate through as a button that did the exact same thing, just quicker?
And when did tags come into this?

idk i wuz trying to rebuttal an unused response. Im just saying it may make it easier than search the entire website

The method I stated on my first post searches only the thread that you were on, and, if you type in your own name to search, only posts by you yourself will be displayed. It won't search the entire website nor for tags.
