Default Miner economics - no light at the end of the tunnel

How to make a small fortune as a Miner - start with a large fortune....
Since the crash of prices, you get 1c for each (chunk?batch?) of ore, any ore, copper, tin, iron, silver gold. 1C for each gem - no matter what it is. And 1C for each refined bar of any metal.
For each refining, you need 36C in purchased material and 6 chunks of ore worth 1C as is. This produces 3 to 4 bars worth 1C each.
So, each refining loses 38 to 39C.
The end of the 6 stage complex Miner collection gives you a magical summoning ore, usable once every 24 hours, to produce one random ore mining game, regardless of location. I got silver in Briarheart last night.
Best of a bunch of bad deals economically is probably to stop leveling when you can mine tin, mine rich tin and sell the ore and gems. It's easier to mine tin and to earn the bonuses.
As with much since the price crash, FR, at least for Miners, makes no sense at all.
