Background Changer

For the past couple of days there has been a bubble of excitement over the community of FreeRealms. With Laralyn's teaser picture of the guilds and promise of their release "soon" we've all been scrambling to find out more information and what we can expect to go live.  Thanks to MMORPG.com's Sanya Weathers interview with Systems Lead Luke Sigmund, we have another preview of what is looking to be a great feature.

In Sanya's conversations with Luke Sigmund, it was noted that these guilds will keep in theme with Free Realms -- easy to navigate menus and straight forward information. Many guilds often create off-site websites to create a sense of community while not able to log on to free realms. It was noted in then interview that these features will be coming to the guild community at a later date. For now, we can expect in-game features to look forward too.

“We wanted to turn around the first iteration of guild functionality very quickly,” says Sigmund. “The basic tools are there – tags, chat tabs, the ability to teleport to other guild members. Recruiting and web tools will come later. We’re planning social networking features, but they won’t be coming online with the first guild patch. We need everything to be really polished before it goes live, and right now we’re focusing on in-game features.”

As a bonus to the interview with Luke Sigmund featured on MMORPG.com; Pex took time to answer various questions on the official Sony forum, also noting that there are plans to have a look at guild's stage one up by Friday.

From these discussions we can confirm the following:
  •  You will be required to be level 15 in at least one job.
  •
  • You will be able to create a custom guild name which will require approval. Until the name is approved you will use a temporary guild name.  For example, my temporary guild name would be <Ashley Preciousfable's Guild>.
  •
  •   There is no need to have multiple users sign a charter - all you need is yourself!
  •
  •   Guilds do not cost anything to create.

Now we get back to the big question - when?
All we can say is "soon".
