Hey guys. Well about an hour ago i got home from Fan Faire. Unfrotunately, I only attended one FreeRealms Panel while there, due to conflicting panels. Yet I was still able to obtain some VERY Important information for FreeRealms Insider.
- FreeRealms is projected to hit 4 million players early this week
- The Dev Team intends to role out more content, faster.
- The Demolition Derby and Kart Racing Jobs will be levelable. These will also include over 40 quests per job, new armor sets, and more.
- The Garage feature is being added to the game. Here we can customize our cars, and look at the parts we add before we add them. There will be both performace pieces, which enhance abilities and speed, or simply pieces that allow our car to look cool.
- Soccer is coming soon to FreeRealms!
- There will be a new quest line, and a new job for the Soccer Feature.
- The Soccer Feature will tie in with guilds. We will be able to have guild matches, and our soccer jerseys will be the same as our guild colors.
- A new area is coming to FreeRealms!
- At Fan Faire, we got an exclusive look at some of the concept art for the Dwarven Homeland.
- The area looks much like a desert, thus the reason for displaying it in Las Vegas.
- With this update, we will get another new combat job, the Druid. Most likely trainable in the Shrouded Glade.
- There will be a new way to get our jobs past twenty.
-In the TCG World:
- You will be able to put your character on a Trading Card Game Card!
- For a small price, you get 10 real world cards, which each have codes to bring these cards in game.
Well this is my information recap for FreeRealms at Fan Faire. The event was very fun, and I even got to play while sitting next to Pex (FreeRealms CM). I highly encourage you all to go next year!

Well, I'm about to leave for Fan Faire. You can expect a small report from me regarding FreeRealms on monday, though I don't think I'll be sitting through as many of the FreeRealms Panels, as I will the EQII Panels. Have a good weekend!

Well I thought I'd write a recap of day one with guilds:
This morning, I started my guild. We named ourselves The Insiders, and then found out that Kade and the others had started a guild called Insiders. After this, we contacted a referee, and got our name changed to The Party People. Throughout the day, we found great members, and our numbers quickly grew. By 9 tonight, we are about at 40 members. However, I find some serious flaws with the guilds in this game:
No Effective Control
In FreeRealms (FR) you can't control what your guild members can, and can't do. There is no way to say "This Rank , may Invite, this rank can't." This allows for a serious problem: To invite you must be an officer. However, officers can also remove and demote, which I don't like, so I'm the only one who can invite. This bugs me.
Lack of an Interface
There is no guild UI. Sure we have a quarter sized text box, but this doesn't allow for me to control my guild! I want to be able to set a message of the day for my guild, be able to have a guild calendar, and more. Though we have a website, a bit more in-game U.I. would be nice.
No solid communication
Just one guild channel isn't enough. EQ2 had several channels (Officer, Member, etc.) and so should FR. I want to be able to communicate with my guild in more channels, and have the ability to set guild notes.
These are just my complaints, and I'm sure you all love guilds. However, if you still want to find a solid guild with good leadership, <The Party People> are willing to take in members who want to Party!

The basic social unit of almost every MMORPG in existince is the Guild. However, leadership in a guild is not as easy as some may think. That is why we are posting the Guild Guide, Part 1.
Before we begin, lets define a guild.
Guild
–noun, an organization of persons with related interests, goals, etc., esp. one formed for mutual aid or protection.
With the recent addition of guilds, lets get down to the basics.
Communication
The essential component in running a guild is Communication. Right now, this would have to be done through a private forums, website, or through tells in game. First, however, lets discuss the very important issue of a private website.
Websites
Almost every good guild in the MMO universe has a website. The website can be very minimal, with just an announcment box, forums, and a personal profile. Or you can go personalize it and add a shoutbox, member blogs, etc. For your guild, I would recommend using the following websites, as they are easy to use for begginers, have a "Free" Option, and are fairly user friendly.
www.guildlaunch.com
www.guildportal.com
www.guildomatic.com
All of these websites provide you with a private guild forum, website, the ability to add pages, and more. However, all of these websites also make the address yourdomainhere.guildlaunch/guildomatic.com. (Guildportal has a different situation, which all users of the website will understand.). To get a custom domain, such as Freerealmsguild.com, I would suggest using the website godaddy.com. This website allows for very affordable domains, and with the code WoW1 you can save a bit more money.
Leadership
In the real world, a country cannot survive without a stable government, with a good leader at the head. In an MMO, Guilds are no different. In order to create a guild that will withstand the test of time, and be able to make themselves well known in a game, you MUST have a strong leader, and officers.
So, how do you pick who will be your officer? First off: Do NOT just promote your friends to the rank of officer. This can easily lead to the downfall of a guild, or could cause good members to leave the guild. Over a guilds lifespan, watch for who is an active player, makes good choices, is social, friendly, understands the game, and is willing to dedicate their time to the guild. These are all important qualities in leading a good guild, and all qualities you want in your officers.
This is the end of Gortan's Guides: Guild Guide, Part 1. Please check back on Thursday for Part 2.
Do you have comments, questions, concerns, or other feedback about this post? Then please email me at gortansguides@gmail.com, or send me a private message here. Thank you!

On the character Thefr Insider, the official character for the Choose your own adventure! Series, I will be starting a fan guild for FreeRealms Insider. I am currently open to suggestions for the name, but I would like to get this guild as large and as noticeable as possible. (I'd love to say I'm in the largest guild in FreeRealms.) Over the summer, our goal is to reach 5,000 members. Though this sounds like a huge number, its been done by guilds in other games, such as World of Warcraft, and with your help, I know we can do it! So please post your naming suggestion here, and we will pick one of them to use when guilds are implemented.

Back before MMO's and even before the MUD's, there were small word games, were one could choose their persons adventure. These small pamphlets alllowed the reader to select one of several answers. Whichever they chose, led them to a different page, thus allowing them to Choose their own adventure. Now I am going to bring this to the FreeRealms world. Every week, I will make several posts, telling you all were the character is. In the comments, you will vote on what I should do next, and how this characters life will commence. So lets begin!
Day 2:
Two days ago, we began the Choose your own Adventure: FreeRealms Style! Series. I recieve a total of 5 replies, and the winner out of a 2/5 vote for the Race/Gender combo, was a Pixie Female. I was able to recieve the name Thefr Insider, and I started in the Crossroads. (See Screenshots during tommorows post.). So today, we have several votes for you:
1. What should Thefr Insider's goal be?
1a. Explorer all of the World!
1b. Be a Combat Expert!
1c. Work on the gathering skills! (i.e. Mining, Cooking, etc.)
1d. Be a Pet Trainer!
2. Where should I head next?
(Write in your zone suggestion.)
3. Should I buy a pet?
3a. Yes!
3b. No way, pets are lame!
Once again, your Feedback is appreciated! We cannot do this without you, so please leave your comments here, and vote for what Thefr Insider should do next! Her fate, is in your hands!

Yesterday, I made a post stating that I would be leaving the FreeRealms Insider community, in search of another "Fan Blog" as my primary posting for Gortan's Guides. Well I searched, and searched, and found that out of the few that exist, FreeRealms Insider continues to remain on top, and is quoted on all of them. So I am formally returning here, and shall begin anew, with several posts today.

Unfortunately I have decided to leave FreeRealms Insider, in search of other fansites. I find to many younger people here, and not enough of the more "Hardcore" Analysis I look for. I wish you all the best, and I will continue to repost the Gortan's Guides series here, though not as my primary website.
