Join the Free Realms Insider Staff for a Summer Beach Party on July 5th at 7 pm EST!

The staff here at Free Realms Insider would like to invite you to join us for a Summer Beach Bash! Here are the details:

Date: Sunday, July 5th

Time: 7:00 pm EST

Server: 1

Location: Meet in Seaside, on the beach near the volleyball net

Activities include:

A pet parade - bring your pet dressed up in costume. The best pet costume will win a virtual booster pack.
Bring your fireworks. Together we should be able to put on amazing display!
We'll walk around Seaside beginning at 7:20 pm ultimately ending up near the bonfire on the beach. Keep an eye out for your walk leaders in Hot Dog or Banana Costumes.
Make sure to capture some photos and/or video of the event. We'll be holding another contest here on the forum to choose the ones that best capture the spirit of the event.

Summer fun on Free Realms!

With the recent downtime this afternoon Free Realms announced multiple additions of summer activities and items for all kinds of members, along with some special Station cash (SC) shop items for both you and your pet!

Be sure to check out the new cardie and other quests to earn fun summer themed items, including a star shot candle, special fireworks and other cool items! and check out the SC shop for exciting new items, including a hula outfit and Uncle Sam outfit!

These quests will only be around for a limited time, so be sure to check it out soon!

Sizzlebottom has drawn quite a crowd near the inn at Seaside. To celebrate his booming business, this Robgoblin has decided to kick-off a special holiday called Seaside Summer Splash! Pex Officially Addresses Coin Drop, Resale Value Issues in Free Realms

For over a week now, users both on SOE's official Free Realms forum and our Free Realms Insider forum have been crying "foul" over the extreme drop in resale values and coin drop rates in FreeRealms and their omission from the update notes.

Pex has posted the official Sony response, which goes as follows. Though most of you will still not agree with the policy shift, there is a possibility of a re-adjustment. Pex's statement may also help us to understanding the building of a "webconomy" in a new game like Free Realms.

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you on this topic. We know that the sell-back prices and coin drop rates in battles is on a lot of people's minds.

The very basic answer to 'why' we made these changes is that the coin drops coupled with high sell-back prices were generating far more coin in the game than ever anticipated. On our side of the spreadsheet there was just a huge amount of coin in the world. A lot of it wasn't getting spent, just piling up and reducing the value. Free Realms doesn't have a lot of coin 'sinks' to remove this cash from the game. Pet upkeep and health potions are probably the most popular, but in the long run, those are fairly minor compared to the amount of in-game cash that can be earned.

The cuts made recently were drastic, but something we felt was needed to stem the flow of coin into the game and reduce the effect it would have on the economy. Changes are often needed when it comes to in-game economies and we will increase or reduce sell and drop rates as needed.

Someone (I think it was Stefferweffer) asked about how new players will be able to afford post-20 armor and weapons for each character. Excellent question. We will keep an eye on the numbers and see if we need to correct them in the opposite direction. We will also keep going through items and upkeep costs and tweak those as needed. Reducing the flow of coin into the game was just one step. We will take everything into account and find a good balance.

The biggest issue with these changes was lack of communication. We didn't accurately (or at all) detail out the changes that were being added to the game. We won't always explain why we do things, but something like this should at least be announced either in the update notes or on the forums. For those of you coming from some of our other titles, you're used to very, very long update notes. We don't intend to list every change (positive or negative) in our update notes, but big-ticket items like this should definately be included and that was our mistake for not doing so.

Free Realms News from SOE Fan Faire 2009!

Sony Online Entertainment's Fan Faire 2009 was in full-gear last week and we saw a few updates from Pex and the Free Realms team from the floor!

A few notes from Pex and the Free Realms team came through Twitter yesterday:

[pex] Just heard that next week will hit 4 million accounts.
[pex] News: Demo Derby and race driver will get 40 quests to lvl 20. also garages to customize your car.
[pex] news: Soccer is coming this summer! Guilds will have matching uniforms.
Dwarven homeland was shown. Druid job will be part of the new desert land.
TCG will let you put your character onto a printed card. Printed cards have code to redeem digital card ingame.

While it's only a few lines of text, there's a bunch of exciting stuff in this news. The things that stood out the most to me as new information were the matching uniforms for guilds and the dwarven homeland and Druid Job.. I can't wait!

SOE Fan Faire Recap

Hey guys. Well about an hour ago i got home from Fan Faire. Unfrotunately, I only attended one FreeRealms Panel while there, due to conflicting panels. Yet I was still able to obtain some VERY Important information for FreeRealms Insider.

- FreeRealms is projected to hit 4 million players early this week

- The Dev Team intends to role out more content, faster.

- The Demolition Derby and Kart Racing Jobs will be levelable. These will also include over 40 quests per job, new armor sets, and more.

- The Garage feature is being added to the game. Here we can customize our cars, and look at the parts we add before we add them. There will be both performace pieces, which enhance abilities and speed, or simply pieces that allow our car to look cool.

- Soccer is coming soon to FreeRealms!

- There will be a new quest line, and a new job for the Soccer Feature.

- The Soccer Feature will tie in with guilds. We will be able to have guild matches, and our soccer jerseys will be the same as our guild colors.

- A new area is coming to FreeRealms!

- At Fan Faire, we got an exclusive look at some of the concept art for the Dwarven Homeland.

- The area looks much like a desert, thus the reason for displaying it in Las Vegas.

- With this update, we will get another new combat job, the Druid. Most likely trainable in the Shrouded Glade.

- There will be a new way to get our jobs past twenty.

-In the TCG World:

- You will be able to put your character on a Trading Card Game Card!

- For a small price, you get 10 real world cards, which each have codes to bring these cards in game.

Well this is my information recap for FreeRealms at Fan Faire. The event was very fun, and I even got to play while sitting next to Pex (FreeRealms CM). I highly encourage you all to go next year!

Welcome! We're glad to see you are interested in the guild <Insiders>. This community was created by the staff and founders at Free Realms Insider to bring a better in game experience to members of our forums!

Your experience within the guild will change at each log in. Perhaps you would like to go grouping with Rowan Whisperz or Autumn Roselake, trade collections with Cyn Raindrop, go exploring with Kade Wolfspotter or Party in Sanctuary with Kiki Moonpeace & Ashley Preciousfable. Regardless of what you are into we're sure you will find someone who will enjoy to play along with you!

But what do the <Insiders> do?

Insiders are known for their information in specific areas, although no member will know everything about all the features in free realms - We are proud of our member's helpful attitude throughout the forums and you can only expect the same within guild!

Here are some of the highlights you can expect when you join!

*Stuck on a combat quest? Need a group? - don't be afraid to ask in guild, many people will be more than willing to help you out or group within a dungeon! It benefits all players.

*Stuck on a quest line? - Many of our members have written or helped with guides placed throughout our forums or have read them in detail. More than likely you will be able to find someone who has finished the quest and can help you out!

*Can't find an NPC or Location? - Ask in guild! If you are lucky you may find a guild member near where you have to go. Don't forget you can teleport to fellow guild members!

* Parties, parties, parties! - We love to party with our members. Keep an eye on the front page and within the guild for party details or upcoming events.

* Events! - FreeRealmsInsider.com hosts many events through out the year - including tours of Free Realms ending in great party locations; contests and other assorted games. By joining the <Insiders> you will have easy access to these locations and events in game!

Explanation of the ranks:

*Leader -- This rank is reserved for the founders of FRI - Kade Wolfspotter and Claire Goldenbeach.

*Officers -- Currently this rank features the staff of FRI.

*Member -- Details on the member rank will be available later!

*Recruit -- This is the rank you earn when you join <Insiders>.

Expectations:

The Expectations within the guild of <Insiders> remains the same as on our forums. We expect you to respect both the members and staff in all ways, if there is a problem contact a staff member (or officer within the guild).

Language must be kept to a minimum, there are many different ages playing free realms and participating in our Forums.

And above all Obey Free Realms rules and respect the refs.

Free Realms "Insiders" Party in the Coolest Places!
